Agglomeration

The process of binding fine ore or mineral particles together to form larger, more permeable aggregates suitable for heap leaching or direct reduction. In gold heap leach operations, fine ore is agglomerated with cement or lime to improve solution permeability and gold recovery. In iron ore processing, agglomeration via sintering or pelletizing prepares fine concentrates for blast furnace or direct reduction ironmaking.
