Aquatic Monitoring

The systematic sampling and analysis of surface water bodies, sediments, and aquatic biota in areas potentially affected by mining operations to assess water quality, ecological health, and the effectiveness of environmental management controls. In bauxite, iron ore, and gold mining, aquatic monitoring programs track parameters including pH, metals, turbidity, and macroinvertebrate communities to detect and respond to mining-related impacts on aquatic ecosystems.
