Articulated Truck

A large off-road dump truck with a pivoting joint between the cab and the rear body, allowing enhanced maneuverability in confined or rough terrain. Articulated trucks are used in bauxite and iron ore mining for short-haul ore and waste transport, particularly in early stripping phases, rehabilitation areas, and pit geometries where rigid-body trucks cannot operate effectively. Common payload capacities range from 25 to 60 tonnes.
