Bauxite Drying

The thermal treatment of washed or wet bauxite to reduce moisture content to levels suitable for efficient grinding, handling, and transport. Drying is conducted in rotary kilns, fluidised bed dryers, or flash dryers at temperatures that evaporate free moisture without altering the mineralogy of aluminium hydroxide phases. Proper drying improves conveyor and handling performance, reduces shipping weight, and prevents moisture-related handling problems in stockpiles and export terminals at bauxite mining operations.
