Biodiversity Action Plan
A strategic document developed by a mining operation to identify, protect, manage, and enhance biodiversity values within and adjacent to the mine lease area throughout the mine life and into closure. A Biodiversity Action Plan identifies key species, habitats, and ecosystem services, establishes measurable protection targets, defines management actions, and monitors outcomes. Plans address impacts from clearing, noise, dust, water changes, and invasive species. Regulatory authorities increasingly require biodiversity action plans as conditions of mining approvals in environmentally sensitive areas.
