Bulk Density

The mass of material per unit volume including the interstitial void space between particles, expressed in tonnes per cubic metre or grams per cubic centimetre. Bulk density is a fundamental parameter in mine planning for converting resource block model volumes to tonnages, designing storage facilities, and sizing material handling equipment. In iron ore, bauxite, and gold resource estimation, accurate bulk density measurements are critical as errors directly affect resource tonnage calculations and economic evaluations. Bulk density varies with moisture content, particle size, and degree of compaction.
