Drill Pattern

A drill pattern is the planned arrangement of drill holes within a defined area to achieve specific mining or exploration objectives. In surface mining operations, drill patterns are commonly used for blast hole drilling, while exploration programs use them to systematically investigate mineral deposits. In bauxite, gold, iron ore, and diamond projects, drill patterns are designed based on geological complexity, deposit geometry, and information requirements. Common patterns include square, rectangular, staggered, and triangular layouts. The spacing and orientation of holes are selected to provide adequate geological coverage while optimizing drilling costs.
