Impact Crusher

An Impact Crusher is a size-reduction machine that breaks rock by utilizing the principle of rapid impact rather than compression or attrition. It consists of a high-speed rotor fitted with blow bars or hammers that strike the incoming feed material with great force, propelling it against impact plates or breaker bars mounted on the crusher housing. The material fractures along natural cleavage planes, producing a more cubical product with fewer fines than jaw or cone crushers. In bauxite mining, impact crushers are used in primary and secondary crushing circuits to produce a uniform feed for grinding mills. In gold mining operations, they handle softer oxide ores efficiently before leach pad stacking. In iron ore processing, they are employed where softer, friable ores need to be reduced to a manageable size for subsequent screening and magnetic separation. In diamond mining, impact crushers must be used with caution and at controlled speeds to prevent diamond breakage and loss of high-value stones during the comminution stage. Modern impact crushers incorporate hydraulic adjustment systems, wear-resistant manganese steel components, and dust suppression systems.
